Wells-next-the-sea

Wells Beach

Holly Cottage is a 25-minute walk from Wells Next the Sea beach, other options include driving or hopping aboard the narrow-gauge railway, a hit with children and adults alike! The beach hut café is a perfect place to stop for lunch with a wide selection of cakes and pastries. You can even pop to Joules opposite to pick up some beach appropriate attire!

Wells Harbour

The harbour is steeped in history and well worth a visit, not just for the fantastic fish and chip shops and ice cream. It is a popular crabbing area, which is an activity you should not leave Wells without trying. Wells harbour also boasts several pubs, one of which, The Albatross is permanently moored on the quayside and serves pancakes.

Wells Coastal Walk

A popular walk is Wells coastal walk, which takes you up to Holkham and back through the woods. Both Wells and Holkham have beach parking facilities. This is also a good walk for dogs as they can be off the lead for most of the walk. For some suggested walks, click here.

Holkham Hall

If you are looking to be active, there is nothing better than walking or cycling along one of the many scenic coastal paths. Holkham Hall is in the neighbouring town with a massive picturesque estate, perfect for bird (and deer) watchers. Beans Boats

A rare chance to get up close to Grey seal and Common seal colonies on a fantastic boat trip. You will learn about the history of old Blakeney Lifeboat station and have an opportunity to disembark on Blakeney Point for a short while, which is the perfect place to grab a picture with inquisitive seals. Pensthorpe Natural Park

Pensthorpe Natural Park is a beautiful 700-acre park in the Fakenham area, a short drive from The Hollies. There are interactive trails and eco play areas, making it perfect for a family day out. There is even the opportunity to feed some of the animals. For more information, please click here.

The Crown Hotel

Once an old coaching station, the Crown Hotel has a beautiful bar and restaurant to relax in after a day of exploring Wells. The Crown Hotel is less than a minute from The Hollies and boats a fabulous menu which can be enjoyed in one of the beautiful dining rooms or on the south facing terrace on a sunny day. The Globe Inn

The Globe is a direct neighbour to The Hollies. It was a finalist for ‘Pub of the year’ at the eatnorfolk Food & Drink awards 2019. They serve delicious, well-presented dishes and work with local fishermen and butchers in the North Norfolk area. Specialties are the beef, lobster, mussels and crabs straight from the harbour! The Edinburgh Inn (Ollies)

The Edinburgh is next door to The Hollies and has a fabulous food menu, including their famous ham, egg and chips. A local favourite! Arthur Howell

Arthur Howell is an established family business in Wells which has expanded since opening as Arthur Howell Butcher and Game dealer in 1889. Wells high street has several Arthur Howell shops including the butcher, the baker and the delicatessen. Whilst you are staying in The Hollies, it is advised that you visit Arthur Howell. French's Fish & Chips

French’s is an award-winning Fish and Chip shop which has been in Wells-next-the-sea for over 90 years. It is without doubt the tastiest Fish and Chips in Wells-next-the-sea, if not the whole of North Norfolk! Whin Hill Norfolk Cider

A standout local business in Wells brewing and selling a delicious range of cider and apple juice. Tucked away in the main car park by the harbour, it is well worth a visit.
